The following thesis arises from the "Research Workshop" course under the direction of Prof. and Lic. Gloria M. Herrera at the National University of Patagonia San Juan Bosco. Titled "Experiences of Nurses in Infection Control in Public Hospitals of Chubut 2024," it is a qualitative study aimed at understanding the experiences and challenges faced by Infection Control Nurses (ICNs) in their work within the province's public hospitals. Through semi-structured interviews, three key areas were identified: the need for specialized training, the implementation of protocols in critical areas, and the difficulties caused by a lack of resources and resistance from the healthcare team. The findings were analyzed using Florence Nightingale’s Environmental Theory, which emphasizes the importance of an adequate environment in infection prevention, and Erickson, Tomlin, and Swain’s Role Modeling and Modeling Theory, which helps to understand the role of ICNs within the healthcare team. This research provides valuable insights into the current state of infection control in Chubut's public hospitals and suggests strategies to strengthen the role of ICNs, improve staff training, and optimize the implementation of preventive measures
